Bad Metaphors from Stupid Student Essays
(actually these are mostly similes, see Literary Terms)
Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two other sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.

His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

She caught your eye like one of those pointy hook latches that used to dangle from screen doors and would fly up whenever you banged the door open again.

The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't.

McMurphy fell 12 stories, hitting the pavement like a Hefty bag filled with vegetable soup.

Her hair glistened in the rain like nose hair after a sneeze.

Her eyes were like two brown circles with big black dots in the center.

Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever.

He was as tall as a six-foot-three-inch tree.

The hailstones leaped from the pavement, just like maggots when you fry them in hot grease.

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

And in this corner... weighing 45 pounds....

Ok, so I brought Riley home on Friday and the first meeting with the cat didn't go so well. I was holding Dash and Franny had Riley and Dash freaked out. He'd never seen a dog before. The holes he left in my hand are healing nicely. Riley was ok, though. He just wanted to check out the cat and see what he was all about. But Dash would have none of it. He hid under my parents' bed for a while. I finally got him out and their second meeting was better because i was basically laying on Dash to keep him from running. It's amazing he didn't get crushed. Little by little they eyed each other and had several staring contests

(Dash staring intently)

(What Dash is staring at)

and eventually they were in the same room together and doing ok, but keeping an eye on each other. You can actually see how close they got in this picture. The black part of the bottom of the picture is Riley's behind.

However on Saturday morning, they didn't do so well. They started out just checking each other out and then as far as I could tell it was unprovoked, but Riley snatched Dash up into his mouth, but Dash turned and clawed Riley with his back legs and got away. He then hid under the bed for several hours. Last night they were able once again to co exist in the same room, but Riley would not take his eyes off of Dash.

(shortly before the attack)

We don't need no stinkin pictures.....

So, i have to say I'm totally jealous. My friend Jennifer has a blog that like everyone and their brother reads (check it out here: http://jennycoomer.blogspot.com) and she's always putting pictures of presents and gifts she gets on her blog. She just put a picture of some cool birthday presents that her cousin Eric gave her and a care package she got for her surgery. Did she put my birthday presents on her blog? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

But... it's ok... I'll live. (sigh*) I know she still likes them- at least I pray she did. I enjoyed giving them to her and she seemed to like them, so that's all that matters. :)

It's truly amazing how God puts people together. I am still amazed that God put a best friend in my life like Franny, and yet He did. He truly blessed me in her and I am so honored to know her. She really pursues God and does her best to please Him in all she does. She's not perfect by any means, but she's pretty darn wonderful! But not only do i have her as a great friend, but then He goes and puts us together with Kelly and Michelle. They are our counterparts in our Plano, TX office, and they rock. They are so much like Franny and I, it's crazy. They make me laugh and smile and I look forward to the times that we chat even if it's only for a moment in between reports. I'd post a picture of them on here, but I've never seen one. They refuse to send one to us. Instead I'll figure out how to put pictures on here and put one of Franny and I. Then when I meet Kelly in Michelle in January I'll take a picture of them while they're sleeping.... mwah ahhahaha.
